Now that's a combo

Dinner Party tonight!

Games and food.

Starting with some Zinfandel blush wine

What's on the menu you ask?

Berry compote, feta stuffed chicken breast!

What a clever husband I have, I had
a spoonful of the berry feta combo
and IT IS tasty!

He had a dredging station going to coat
the chicken in jalapeno and cheddar
chips.

This is a very interesting combo and
I can't wait to tell you the verdict.

Well the verdict is in!
The couple loved the dish
and I was the first one to
finish my plate... and I'm
the one who leaves leftovers
for lunch the next day!

About the chef

Christopher really likes to be punctual but if
he has a brilliant idea for breakfast we tend to go to
church late so we can enjoy a delicious breakfast together.

Thank- O for Panko

Today Christopher asked me
what we should have for supper,
I love those days. I knew exactly
what I was going to ask for......

The chicken fingers to
beat all other chicken fingers!

Made with fresh chicken breast
and breaded with panko crumbs.

Simple, right?

But it has the perfect crunch,
and soft and moist inside.

Of course he made a sauce.
He always goes the extra mile
to make a yummy dish. I love
getting to taste what goes on
in that mind of his.

He calls the sauce, that sauce:
Ginger, curry, wine and soya
dark and delicious
and of course
to mix it up I make:
a traditional honey dill sauce. Thanks
to Twisters restaurant for the recipe. I would never buy this sauce when I can make it better! Mayo, honey and dill it's just so easy. You may be wondering why I'm writing this in first person, well Chris hates honey dill and won't even look at it. How unfortunate because it's delicious and the best
combo for chicken.

About the chef
This man's love language is food, if he knows you like something
he will make it for you. Recently he made pork chops for the
extremely picky neighbor, she was blown away.
You can't help but love a dish that's made with so much heart.

A Typical Mennonite Meal

                                                                                 Yes, Perogies and farmer sausage!

                                                                                                      Woo Hoo!
I've been wanting to write about
these for awhile now. And here
they are steaming on my plate.

My Mom is known as the Perogie lady, she
makes up to 60 - 90 dozen
every day. Now that I'm a student and need money
I've started helping her
on Saturdays we always
have fun and Chris makes sure that I bring
some of these home.

Since this is a Mennonite perogie, they are actually called Vereneke. The dough for Vereneke is much thinner than a perogie dough and is filled with cottage cheese. This meal is served with cream gravy called Schmoanfat, (made like a roux, and heavy cream is added) Farmer sausage and chow chow. I think I may be the only person who enjoys chow chow, it's a preserve made with green tomatoes and pickled onions.

About the Chef
We have a cat named Turbo and they have an adorable relationship.
Chris also spends some of his time being a handyman and loves to work on our
car or home renovations. He also makes time to help neighbors and friends
with repairs, he's a loyal- go to kinda guy!

Cream of broccoli

Tonight's menu is soup

The ingredient list is simple but the outcome is complex.
Chris combined cream, potato, sausage, broccoli, fresh basil, salt, pepper, oxo chicken soup mix and water.

Perfect soup for this fall weather we are having, happy September!

Also notice the size of bowl he serves his soup in, there is no such thing as small portions at the Wolfe house. Check out the blog tomorrow for a delicious home cooked Mennonite meal, featuring my mama's Verenke. (cottage cheese of course)

About the chef

Christopher likes to share his cooking with a neighbor of ours. We are blessed to live in a great neighborhood and in turn for snow blowing our driveway the man that lives next door gets his fair share of peach pies! Speaking of them, they are coming over for an outdoor movie night.
 Fresh raspberries, brownies and popcorn!
Enjoying the last  beautiful days in September.

Zucchini Boats

Zucchini Tacos

This is a recipe my mother used to make, she always has a garden and grows the biggest zucchini i've ever seen. We grabbed a small zucchini the last time we were in Winkler and Chris knew exactly what he wanted to make! I really love how he doesn't follow a recipe but always looks to make it better.
What used to be a plain yet delicious meal, turned into a spicy and flavorful re-vamped dish. Taco style ground beef inside a half zucchini, with the seeds scooped out. Then filled with the taco meat and baked, cheese and sriracha are added and then back in oven to broil. Topped off with a scoop of boursin cheese. MMM mmm you actually need a spoon to dig out this soft goodness.

About the chef

Christopher has inspiring desire to cook for others and loves to create for an audience.
That being said we need to have more dinner parties with our friends!
His favorite show on the cooking show is Triple D and records many shows.
He doesn't like to travel but if he had to he would definetly enjoy the variety of
 restaurants triple d has showcased.

An all evening affair

Friday is youth day and i'm one of the spunky youth leaders at Waves of glory.
That means i'm not home for supper but that does not mean my husband
is not being productive and creative! I came home to the smell of
his famous bread pudding! Thanks to chef Franck!

I did not even get to take a bite! We will be taking this lovely dessert to a dinner party this sunday.
This dish always goes well and is even approved by his brother Joey (who never eats dessert)

Serve warm with a plethora of cream and a drizzle of caramel sauce!
Can't wait to enjoy a big helping of this bread pudding!

                                                                A little about the chef

Chris' free time is spent watching the food network and dreaming up creative food.
This guy is always ready to go grocery shopping and can be at the store daily taking
inspiration from his shows and the aisles. He is never afraid to try new foods and our
kitchen is filled with many crazy tools and gadgets and lets not forget about his knives!

Piz Piz Cheerio!

An odd beginning

Remember as a kid when you would eat cereal breakfast, lunch and supper? Well I had a craving and on the first day of doing the #chriscancook blog and i convinced my husband to have pizza and cereal for supper. Yes, pizza and apple cinnamon cheerios.. it was fantastic! We snuggled up to watch the movie Maleficent and had a nice dinner.

After dark we decided to pick our raspberry bush, with flashlights. The light reflecting off the juicy red berries was a very exciting and slow process! Heres our result for today:
